Active Rehabilitation & Fitness - FAQ

  • WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY? ▼

Physiotherapy is a regulated, science-based healthcare profession that takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing when someone has been affected by injury, illness or disability. The goal of physiotherapy is to evaluate, restore and maintain your physical function and movement and educate you on the best ways to handle your condition going forward.

No matter whether your problem is the result of injury, illness or simple wear and tear, physical pain can happen to anyone, at anytime, at any age. At Active Rehabilitation &Fitness we pride ourselves on our wide range of effective treatments for people of all ages. Put it this way: if it’s a condition related to joints, muscles, or nerves chances are we treat it.

If you’re unsure whether your problem can be addressed by us, please feel free to get in touch and together we’ll assess your condition to see if we can help.

Some examples of conditions we treat are:

    • Neck and back pain and stiffness
    • Nerve impingement such as sciatica
    • Sports injuries such as ankle or knee sprains, shoulder pain
    • Arthritis
    • Overuse injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome or Achilles tendonitis
    • Whiplash following a car accident
  • WHAT SHOULD I BRING? ▼

Physiotherapy is a hands-on profession, and your visit will include a physical examination. We suggest you bring comfortable workout attire that allows for easy access to the area that requires treatment. For knee, ankle, and lower back conditions we recommend you bring shorts. For neck or shoulder pain a loose fitting t-shirt would be ideal.

  • DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL? ▼

You don’t require a formal referral to see a physiotherapist. Physiotherapists are “first contact” practitioners which means we have the necessary skills to examine, diagnose, treat and advise our patients with no previous input or referral from a doctor.
